FinShield Terms of Service

“FinShield” and “Second Look” are the same app. On Google Play it is listed as “Second Look: Scam App Check”; “FinShield” is the name used throughout this document.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using FinShield, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

These terms apply to the free version of FinShield. If a paid tier is introduced in a future version, additional terms will apply to that tier and will be presented before purchase.

2. What FinShield Does

FinShield is an Android security app that:

Scans apps installed on your device for permission patterns associated with financial fraud
Monitors which apps are active in the foreground while you use banking or UPI apps
Alerts you when potentially risky behaviour is detected

FinShield performs all scanning on your device. It does not have access to your banking credentials, UPI PINs, or transaction history.

3. What FinShield Does Not Do

FinShield is not:

A guaranteed protection against all financial fraud
A replacement for antivirus software or Google Play Protect
A real-time transaction monitor or banking app
A service that can block or stop a fraudulent transaction in progress

FinShield warns you about risky app patterns. What you do with those warnings is your decision.

4. No Warranty on Detection Accuracy

FinShield’s detection is based on static app analysis (declared permissions, install source) and foreground app monitoring. It does not inspect what apps actually do at runtime, read your SMS messages, or access your banking data.

FinShield may miss threats. A malicious app may not trigger any of FinShield’s signals. FinShield may also flag apps that are not actually harmful (false positives).

The app is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind — express or implied — including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

5. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Vigilo Labs shall not be liable for:

Any financial loss, fraud, or theft that occurs despite using FinShield
Any loss resulting from FinShield failing to detect a threat
Any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of or inability to use the app

FinShield is a tool to help you make more informed decisions. It is not an insurance policy or a guarantee of security.

6. Your Responsibilities

By using FinShield, you agree to:

Use the app only on devices you own or are authorised to use
Not attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or tamper with the app
Not use the app to scan devices belonging to others without their consent
Keep the app updated to receive the latest security signals and fixes

7. Permissions

FinShield requests certain Android permissions to function. A full explanation of each permission and why it is needed is available in the Privacy Policy. Granting these permissions is required for the relevant features to work; you may deny optional permissions and the core app will still function.

8. Third-Party Services

FinShield connects to:

Vigilo Labs proxy (Supabase): for VirusTotal lookups — see Privacy Policy for details
Firebase Crashlytics (Google): for automatic crash reporting

9. Updates to the App

Vigilo Labs may update FinShield at any time to fix bugs, improve detection, or change features. We recommend keeping the app updated. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of any changes to functionality.

10. Changes to These Terms

If these Terms of Service change materially, the “Last updated” date at the top will be updated. For beta users, changes will be communicated directly. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of courts in India.
